Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has been in imperious form in the ongoing calendar year, piling up 1230 runs, which is the most by a cricketer this year. Moreover, he scored five centuries, five fifties and a double century this year and made a real case for himself as the brightest young prospect in the present era.
While everyone expected to feature in the World Cup 2023, all of a sudden, he was affected by Dengue, which prevented him from taking part in the team’s opening encounter against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He was subsequently ruled out of the clash against Afghanistan in Delhi.
Recently, India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour confirmed that Shubman Gill has been recovering well. However, in case he is ruled out of the World Cup, then the team management should be able to make appropriate changes. Let’s take a glimpse at the two players who can replace Shubman Gill if he is ruled out.
1. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson has been in stellar form in One-Day Internationals and has performed well for the team whenever he was given an opportunity to showcase his mettle. The right-handed batsman was brought in as a cover for the injured KL Rahul during the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
Sanju Samson could be the right man to be in the mix in case Shubman Gill is ruled out of the tournament. Having played 13 ODIs so far, he scored 390 runs at an average of 55.7 including three half-centuries.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal made waves with the bat during the Indian Premier League and it was because of his exploits in the tournament, he earned an opportunity to represent the Indian cricket team. The left-handed batter is one of the names that can replace Shubman Gill if the latter is ruled out of the tournament.
Jaiswal is yet to make his ODI debut for India but played 2 Tests and 8 T20Is. In the limited number of games he played for India, he already showcased his calmness and composure, scoring 266 runs in Tests at an average of 88.7 including 1 century and 1 fifty. On the other hand, he scored 232 runs in T20Is including 1 century and 1 fifty.
