Sachin Tendulkar (India)
The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the maximum number of runs in Test cricket. He smashed 15921 runs in 200 Test matches with an excellent average of 53.78 and a strike rate of 54.04, including 68 half-centuries and 51 outstanding centuries.
He also holds the record for the most centuries in the longest format of the game. Tendulkar retired from all formats of cricket after playing his last contest against the West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, in the year 2013.
Ricky Ponting (Australia)
Ricky Ponting is a former Australian captain and one of the most successful batters in Test cricket. He made a total of 13378 runs while appearing in 168 test matches, with an average of 51.85 and a strike rate of 58.72.
Ponting smashed 62 fifties and 41 massive hundreds, including the best score in an inning of 257 runs. He started his career in 1995 and played his last contest in 2012.
Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
Jacques Kallis stands in third place on the list of highest run-getters in the longest format of the game. He smashed 13289 runs while participating in 166 test matches at a batting average of 55.37 and a strike rate of 45.97, including 58 half-centuries and 45 magnificent hundreds.
He also holds the record for winning the most Player of the Match awards and for scoring a century in each inning of a game.
Rahul Dravid (India)
Rahul Dravid is the fourth-highest run-scorer in the world and second from India after Sachin Tendulkar. He is also known as ‘The Wall’ for his nature of standing on the crease for longer durations in Test cricket. He made a total of 13288 runs in 164 test matches, with an average of 52.31 and a strike rate of 42.51, including 63 fifties and 36 impressive centuries.
Alastair Cook (England)
Sir Alastair Cook is the fifth-highest run-getter in the history of test cricket, as he scored 12472 runs in 161 matches at an average of 45.35 and a strike rate of 46.95, including 57 half-centuries and 33 centuries, and the best score in an innings of 294 runs. He started his test career in 2006 while playing against India, and he appeared in his last test against the same side in September 2018 at the Oval.
