Scoring a double century in ODIs is quite a sensational achievement because even if a batsman plays one wrong shot, he gets dismissed. As a result, scoring a double hundred in the 50-over isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. So far in the history of ODIs, nine cricketers scored a double century.
Notably, Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer in the history of ODIs to have slammed three double centuries. A batsman needs to be extra careful in terms of the shot selection and his acumen to accelerate the innings when it matters the most. In this article, let’s go through the fastest double centuries in ODIs by balls.
1. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan etched his name into the record books when he scored the fastest double century in the history of the 50-over format. The young southpaw achieved the feat in the dead rubber against Bangladesh, in which he took only 126 balls to score the double century in Chattogram in 2022.
He constructed his innings with the help of 24 fours and 10 hits over the fence at a strike rate of 160.30. His imperious double hundred helped India post 409/8 in their quota of 50 overs. On the other hand, Bangladesh were bowled out for 182. India won the game by 227 runs and Ishan Kishan was named the Man of the Match.
