Scoring a century in the ODI World Cup isn’t everyone’s cup of tea because there is always relentless pressure on the batters from the get-go. The bowlers spring in with plenty of surprises to the batters by bowling knuckle balls, back-of-a-length balls, bouncers and some tricky deliveries to set up a perfect trap.
The batsman needs to be completely aware of what he is doing and how he should switch gears in the powerplay to get a great deal of confidence. Once he gets into the groove, it would be easier for the batsman to bring up a triple-figure mark against the run of play.
While scoring one century is considered a daunting task, some batsmen took their game to the next level by hammering more centuries in a single edition of the ICC ODI World Cup. Let’s take a glimpse at the three players who scored the most centuries in a single ODI World Cup edition.
1. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is widely acknowledged as the greatest opening batsman of all time, courtesy of his significant contribution to Indian cricket across all formats. He comes first on the list as he scored the most centuries in a single edition of the World Cup. He achieved the feat during the 2019 edition in which he scored a century against Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, England and Sri Lanka.
