South Africa have always been a nation that has produced some exceptional bowlers who have been among the best in the world. The Rainbow Nation has a strong tradition of producing fast bowlers. Historically, Proteas bowlers are known for their ability to generate sheer pace and movement, which makes them successful.
It is also worth mentioning here that South African bowlers have performed exceptionally well on the international stage by making their presence count across all three formats of the game. Rightly so, they have been ranked among the in all formats of the game, without any doubt.
So far in the history of men’s cricket, only 12 bowlers have achieved the remarkable feat of taking a fifer in Tests, One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. Out of those 12 bowlers, two are from South Africa who achieved this amazing feat.
1. Imran Tahir
The former South African cricketer is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s best spin bowlers. The Pakistan-born represented South Africa across all three formats of international cricket. The former right-arm leg-break bowler is widely known for his trademark running celebration after taking every wicket.
His top bowling figures in international cricket include 5/32 against Pakistan in Tests, 5/45 against West Indies in ODIs and 5/24 against New Zealand in T20Is. Overall, he has taken 2 fifers in Tests, 3 fifers in ODIs and 2 fifers in T20Is. He took 57 wickets in Tests, 173 wickets in ODIs and 63 wickets in T20Is.

2. Lungi Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi is the second bowler from South Africa who took a five-wicket haul in Tests, One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. Notably, he is the only fast bowler from South Africa to achieve the feat.
Lungi Ngidi registered 6/39 against India, 6/58 against Australia and 5/39 against England, which is his top bowling figures against top teams in international cricket. Overall, he has taken 3 fifers in Tests, 1 fifer in ODIs and 1 fifer in T20Is. As far as his wicket-taking tally is concerned, he has taken 51 wickets in Tests, 78 wickets in ODIs and 60 wickets in T20Is.
