Scoring a century in an ODI World Cup is quite a challenge for the batsmen. It is due to the fact that the fast bowlers or the spinners come equipped with strategies and tactics to outsmart the batsmen during the passage of play.
We have seen how bowlers mount searing pressure on the batsmen from the get-go to keep them in check. Nevertheless, the batsmen who defy the challenges are certain to come out on top against the opposition teams.
Case in point, England won the 2019 edition of the World Cup by beating the New Zealand cricket team in the final showdown based on the boundary count rule. In that particular edition, three batsmen scored a century against the champions.
1. Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan is one of the best all-rounders in the world and had it not been for his all-round services, it would have been a different story altogether for the Bangladesh cricket team across all formats of the game. He scored 121 off 119 balls including 12 fours and a six against England in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. Shakib ended up on the losing side as England won the game by 106 runs.
