3 Players with Most ODI Runs at a Batting Position-compressed

Cricket is the only sport which is being played in the form of three formats namely the traditional Test format, the One-Day International format and the Twenty20 International format. Among these formats, the T20I format garnered traction among the fans of the cricket fraternity due to its shortest duration.

However, the cricket fraternity has witnessed a truckload of emotions in the ODI format because nobody literally knows which team will win until the team aces the run chase. We have seen teams losing games by the barest of margins. Case in point, we will now take a glimpse at the four players with the most ODI runs at a batting position.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is widely regarded as the greatest batsman of all time, owing to his impeccable contribution to Indian cricket in both Tests and One-Day Internationals. He is the leading run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs. Talking specifically about ODIs, he scored 18,426 runs including 49 centuries and 96 fifties. The Master Blaster tops the list as he scored 13,685 runs at the No.2 batting position.

2. Ricky Ponting

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. The two-time ODI World Cup-winning captain scored 13,704 runs in ODIs including 30 centuries and 82 fifties, which is the third-most by a batter in ODIs. He comes second on the list as he scored 12,662 runs at the No.3 position, which is the most by a batsman in that respective batting position.

3. Virat Kohli

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is currently the best all-format batsman in the world. The right-handed batsman’s consistency is what sets him apart from other batters in today’s world. The experienced campaigner scored 11,000 runs at the No.3 batting position and has a great chance to edge past Ricky Ponting’s record in the near future. Kohli scored 13,168 runs in ODIs including 47 centuries and 67 fifties.
