Dinesh Karthik has been under some serious fire after a faltering start to the latest edition of the tournament. The man who completely turned the tables in favour of RCB in IPL 2022, almost single-handedly helping the Challengers to stay afloat in a hunt for the play-offs has somehow been completely off his element in the ongoing year.
From the first eight games, the Royal Challengers Bangalore has managed to secure 4 wins that has left them hanging in the sixth spot with an upcoming fixture against the might of the Lucknow Super Giants against whom they slumped down to an unfortunate defeat in the preceding encounter as Harshal Patel mucked up a run-out chance while Dinesh Karthik fumbled under the pressure.
Here is how woeful Dinesh Karthik has been in IPL 2023
Barring the top-three for RCB, things have so far gone south and unless there is a late revival for DK, the man who grabbed the limelight back in IPL 2022 can very well be the villain for the Challengers in the ongoing edition of the tournament. Former Indian teammate of Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan made a serious remark about RCB’s ace wicket-keeper, citing that if the Tamil Nadu player doesn’t mend his ways, the future seems pretty bleak for him and for his franchise too.
In IPL 2023, RCB’s middle-order has scored only 404 runs which is the lowest of the tournament. Out of those 404 runs, Dinesh Karthik has only managed to score 83 runs at an average of 13. Albeit a couple of improved knocks in the last three games, yet the kind of DK was taken for in the first place has somehow fallen apart.
This is what Irfan Pathan had to say Dinesh Karthik ahead for the remainder of IPL 2023
Talking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said, “RCB will have to find a solution that if KGF (Kohli, Glenn, Faf) do not work then who will steer the team through troubled waters. Whether Dinesh Karthik or Mahipal Lomror. RCB’s middle order looks very weak. Karthik could not prove even once in the last 8 matches that the team can rely on him for big scores or during chases. RCB management will have to fix this loophole in their batting.”
