In this competitive era, cementing a place in the team is seen as a massive challenge. If a player doesn’t live up to his reputation, then there is no point in getting an opportunity to play for the team. Among the players in the starting XI, teams would have one or two players who score runs consistently.
Then it reminds us of the fab 4 namely Virat Kohli (Team India), Steve Smith (Australia), Joe Root (England) and Kane Williamson (New Zealand). These four players have actively contributed to their respective teams with utmost confidence and consistency. Rightly so, they earned the tag of impact players.
In the last three years, there has been a major power shift among the Fab 4 in terms of scoring centuries in Test cricket.
1. Joe Root
Former England Test captain Joe Root comes first on the list as he scored the most centuries among the Fab 4 since December 2020. The right-handed batter who has been incredibly consistent with the bat in Tests has scored 13 centuries to his credit.

Former New Zealand Test captain Kane Williamson has been the best performer for his country across formats. The experienced campaigner comes second on the list as he scored seven centuries among the Fab 4 since December 2020.
3. Steve Smith
Steve Smith has been Australia’s best batter in international cricket and besides that, he is currently the best batsman in the longest format of the game. His sheer consistency in Test cricket is what sets him apart from most other batters of the Fab 4. Recently, he became the second-fastest batsman to score 9000 runs in Tests. He achieved the feat in 174 innings, which is indeed a magnificent achievement.
4. Virat Kohli
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli ran through a dip in form as he failed to extend his dominance for close to three years. In all these years, it has been a forgettable experience for India’s run machine. Shockingly, he has scored just one century since December 2020. However, he is expected to bounce back and score more runs for the team in the games to come.
