Sri Lanka have always been a nation that has produced high-quality cricketers across all facets. They had top-tier batters, bowlers and all-rounders and in their prime, there were a phenomenal force to be reckoned with. Under the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga, they went on to beat Australia in the final to win ICC ODI World Cup 1996.
Besides that, they also won their maiden T20 World Cup by beating India in the 2014 final. On the other hand, they have won as many as six Asia Cup titles, the second-most by a team in Asia.
Sri Lanka have so much history as a cricketing nation. Case in point, let’s now go through the names of two Sri Lankans who scored the most overseas centuries.
1. Kumar Sangakkara
Kumar Sangakkara is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batters of all time. It is also worth mentioning here that Sri Lanka’s batting great is the second-leading run-scorer in the history of international cricket with 28016 runs at an average of 46.77.
He was also one of the top-notch wicketkeepers during the heydays of his career. The legend has scored 18 overseas centuries, which is the most by a Sri Lankan. Sangakkara scored 12400 runs in Tests, 14234 runs in One-Day Internationals and 1382 runs in Twenty20 Internationals.
Notably, he smacked 38 centuries in Tests, 25 centuries in One-Day Internationals. He registered his personal best score of 319 in Tests, 169 in ODIs and 78 in T20Is.

2. Sanath Jayasuriya
Sanath Jayasuriya has been the finest opening batsman for Sri Lanka during the heydays of his cricketing career. The former Sri Lankan opener was best known for his aggressive strokeplay.
Apart from his batting credentials, he was a pretty orthodox spinner and a dynamic fielder. Jayasuriya has smacked a total of 16 overseas centuries, the second-most by a Sri Lankan.
He scored 6973 runs in Tests, 13430 runs in One-Day Internationals and 629 runs in Twenty20 Internationals. Notably, he smacked 14 centuries in Tests and 28 centuries in ODIs. He registered his personal best score of 340 in Tests, 189 in ODIs and 88 in T20Is.
