They say that any debut in sports is always special to a player and when that debut is in the much-talked-about IPL, it gets an added boost for any uprising star. On such a fairytale opening to his IPL career, Vyshak Vijaykumar was the star of the show for the Royal Challengers Bangalore as he claimed three crucial wickets, contributing instrumentally to the exploits of RCB.
His first haul of the day was none other than the Delhi captain, David Warner as Virat Kohli bagged a sitter to remove the Aussie icon. He would return later to claim the all-important scalp of a dangerous-looking Axar Patel as the southpaw threatened to take the game away from RCB. His final pick of the day was all-rounder, Lalit Yadav, as he capped off his IPL debut with figures of 4-0-20-3.
Here is what Vyshak Vijaykumar had to say about his special performance against DC
Talking in a post-match interview, Vyshak Vijaykumar said, “I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time. I’ve been working hard so I think it’s been paying off. Faf came and told me that the wicket was holding a bit so I backed my strength and bowled my slower ones a little more and I think that helped me.”
