Shubman Gill has been in the form of his life now for the last couple of years. Ever since his arrival in the IPL roster for KKR, he has been rising up and above and there hasn’t been any stopping the youngster from going hard at the bowlers. His current form in the ongoing IPL and in the Indian colours has been a burning testimony to the youngster’s phenomenal rise.
In fact, such has been brilliance that people have started bringing out comparisons between Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. However, even albeit this is a long shot for any Indian particularly trying to parallel the heroics of Kohli who is the only batter in the league contention with the Indian batting god, Sachin Tendulkar, yet thinking about such a herculean feat can be a pipe dream.
Here is what Michael Vaughan had to say about Virat Kohli
Simon Doull wanted to say that Virat Kohli wasn’t in his prime form as he needed time to score and that wasn’t usual at all. However, Michael Vaughan, who has been in constant contention with Wasim Jaffer for the Indian cricketers, had an interesting remark to make, stating that Shubman Gill may very well be chasing Virat Kohli already.

Michael Vaughan said, “In Tests, he is a beautiful player. I have no doubts about him in ODIs. But in T20 cricket in this era, I do have a doubt about him. I think he can take more risks. A lot of Indian players take a lot of balls to get in. But in modern cricket, you almost got to go because now you have a batting line-up to almost 9 or 10 and in some cases even 11.”
This is why Vaughan believes that Shubman Gill can be the perfect pick for Virat Kohli’s mantle
Vaughan also pointed out that how Shubman Gill has changed his course from striking slowly in the latter stages after a great knock to exploding completely that makes him a better prospect than Virat Kohli considering the latter’s recent form.
