In the game, Nicholas Pooran led from the front as New York chased down the target of 184 runs in just 16 overs. The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 137 runs in 55 balls at an impressive strike rate of 249.09 which included 13 sixes and 10 fours. Earlier, batting first Orcas posted 183-9 runs in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock hits 87 runs in 52 balls which included four sixes and nine fours. Trent Boult and Rashid Khan took three wickets each for New York.

Nicholas Pooran credited his team for creating history by winning the inaugural Major League Cricket match. The 27-year-old wicket batsman said he backed his skills to take MI New York to the finish line in the final. He said in the presentation after the match.
โChatting today, we spoke about creating history. We lost our captain, and a couple of players. At the end of the day, I am proud as everyone contributed.
“We knew it was a good batting wicket. We were prepared for this moment from a week ago. We had to be confident and believe in each other. We got over the line today. We were been put under pressure earlier this week.โ
He continued:
โYou are going to bat like Nicky P, I told myself, and backed my skill. I just had to execute my skills. I have been working on it since the last 5-6 years. It was really special for me. I just want to thank all the fans and supporters. They have been really amazing.โ
