3 Indian Batting pairs with Most Partnership Runs in an Asia Cup tournament-compressed

When there is a successful partnership, it ultimately helps the team build a humongous total. Building a successful partnership during the game requires a combination of skill, gameplan, proper communication and teamwork. First of all, both batters need to understand their roles to build a partnership.

While one batsman might be aggressive to score runs at a rate of knots, the other batsman might be accumulating runs steadily. As a result, it is important to adapt your approach based on the strengths and the situation of the game.

Apart from smashing sixes and fours, it is crucial to take singles and twos, which are important to build pressure on the fielders. All these aspects help the batsmen score plenty of runs. Let’s take a glimpse at the three Indian batting pairs with the most partnership runs in an Asia Cup tournament.

1. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan used to be a regular feature for the Indian cricket team. He used to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in white-ball cricket. Nevertheless, he is out of the selectors’ radar.

For the record, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan added 437 runs together in the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup, which is the most by a batting pair in the continental event. Notably, India won the Asia Cup 2018 edition by beating Bangladesh in the final.

He finished the Asia Cup 2023 tourney as the leading run-scorer with 302 runs including 1 century and 2 fifties. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 365 runs together. India won the Asia Cup 2023 by beating Sri Lanka in the final.

3. Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag

Team India immensely benefitted from the services of both Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag across all three formats of the game. Both of them played several impactful knocks for the team as openers. It is worth noting that they constructed 355 runs together during the 2008 edition of the Asia Cup.
