Taking a five-wicket-haul in T20I cricket isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. When a bowler takes a fifer, it is considered a significant achievement. While it is easy to take wickets in the shortest format, it is quite the opposite when it comes to taking a five-wicket haul. We have seen even most of the best bowlers fail to take a fifer in T20Is.
However, some bowlers defied the odds and took a fifer in the shortest format. Case in point, India have been blessed with so many amazing bowlers but not all of them have taken a fifer. So far, only four bowlers have managed to take a fifer in T20Is. Let’s learn about all of them now.
1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the most powerful bowling weapons for Team India for close to a decade. With subtle bowling variations of line and length, he was able to keep the opposition batsmen in check and take crucial wickets when it matters the most.
It is worth mentioning here that he is the only Indian bowler who has taken two five-wicket-hauls in T20Is. He took 90 wickets in 87 T20Is at an average of 23.10 and an economy of 6.90. He registered his best bowling figures of 5/4 against the Afghanistan cricket team in Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2022.
