3 Indians who scored Most Runs as a Captain in an Asia Cup Tournament-compressed

Team India have been blessed with terrific captains in the history of the sport. The likes of MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have given absolutely everything so far in their roles. These big names not only led the team from the front but also led the batting attack by example.

The duty of a captain is to make sure that the team is heading in the right direction in search of glory. While captaining the team is one part, scoring crucial runs for the team is what stands out. In this listicle, let’s take a glance at the three Indians who scored the most runs as a captain in an Asia Cup tournament.

1. MS Dhoni

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is widely acknowledged as the greatest captain in the history of Indian cricket. Under his captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup 2007, the ODI World Cup 2011 and the Champions Trophy 2013. Besides that, India won two Asia Cup titles (2010 and 2016). MS Dhoni scored 327 runs in the 2008 Asia Cup, which was the most by an international captain at that time.

2. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as the best opening batsman across formats of international cricket. Popularly known as Hitman for his incredible six-hitting abilities, Rohit Sharma has played many big knocks in limited-overs cricket. He is the only batter to have smashed 3 double centuries in ODIs and 4 centuries in T20Is. He has already won an Asia Cup in 2018 as a captain. He scored 317 runs, which was the most by an international captain in that tournament.

3. Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly played a quintessential role in shaping and revitalizing Indian cricket during his stint as a cricketer and captain. The former Indian skipper has never won an Asia Cup as a captain but often led the batting attack by example. He scored 244 runs in the 2004 Asia Cup tournament, which was the most by an international captain at that time.
