Team India have always been a nation that has performed pretty well in the group stages of the ICC ODI World Cup but their performances haven’t really hit the peak in the knockouts, most of the time. The players have crumbled under pressure situations, which has often put the team on the back foot.
It is absolutely imperative for the batters to hold their nerves and know a thing or two about handling the pressure in the clutch moments of the game. These little factors and adjustments in the game will surely help the batsmen take the game away from the opposition against the run of play.
We will now know more about the names of the five Indians who aggregated the most runs in the knockout matches of the Cricket World Cup.
1. Gautam Gambhir
Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been the star performer for the team in the two finals of the World Cup (2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup). Notably, he was the top run-scorer in both finals. Gambhir comes first on the list as he scored the most runs in the knockout matches of the Cricket World Cup. He mustered as many as 174 runs in the 2011 ODI World Cup, more than any other Indian.
