6 Indians with Most Runs scored in a Test Match-compressed

India have always been a nation that has produced top-tier batters in their history. Over the decades, some batsmen went on to make a real case for themselves and stamped their authority in international cricket. Rightly so, they earned the tag of ‘big-game’ cricket players.

As a nation, India have won seven Asia Cup titles, more than any other team in Asia. Besides that, they have won two ODI World Cup tournaments (1983, 2011). On the other hand, India won 1 Twenty20 World Cup and 2 Champions Trophies (co-champions with Sri Lanka in 2000).

In this listicle, let’s go through the names of Indians with the most runs scored in a Test match.

1. Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar tops the list as he scored 344 runs against the West Indies, the most by any Indian against an opponent in a Test match. The Indian batting great scored 124 and 220 in the fifth Test in the Port of Spain in 1971.

VVS Laxman comes next on the list as he aggregated 340 runs against Australia. He scored 59 in the first innings and followed it up with an impeccable 281 in the second innings at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2000/01.

3. Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly comes next on the list as he aggregated 330 runs against Pakistan in Bengaluru in 2007. He scored 239 runs in the first innings and then followed it up with 91 in the second innings.

4. Virender Sehwag

The Nawab of Najafgarh scored 319 against South Africa, which was also his career-best score in Test cricket. The former Indian opener pitched in with a whopping score in the first innings.

5. Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag is the only Indian that is featured on this list twice. The former Indian successful opening batsman scored a scintillating 309 against Pakistan in Multan in 2004.

6. Rahul Dravid

Popularly known as “The Wall of Indian Cricket”, Rahul Dravid comes next on the list as he mustered 305 runs against Australia at The Oval in 2003. He scored 233 in the first innings and then followed it up with an unbeaten 72.
