It is no doubt that the strategies implied by the batters of today’s generation have changed significantly. Moreover, the induction of limited-overs cricket and the increasing number of franchise T20 leagues have influenced the tactical facets of the game.
The cricket fraternity has witnessed batters approaching the game with a lot of intent. Yes, the batters of this era seem to be playing the game without any fear. They have been innovative in clutch situations and have also been taking calculated risks when it really mattered the most.
Above all, the batsmen have been implying aggressive tactics to score runs at a rapid pace. Piling up more runs in consecutive ODI innings ain’t that easy. However, some batters have maintained consistency and unleashed their potential. Let’s take a glimpse at the two players with the most runs in consecutive ODI innings as non-opener.
1. Sean Williams
Sean Williams has been the most flamboyant batting all-rounder for the Zimbabwe national cricket team. The 36-year-old comes first on the list as he aggregated the most runs in consecutive ODI inning as a non-opening batter. He scored 316 runs in consecutive ODI innings, the most by any non-opener.
He chipped in with a magnificent 174 off 101 balls (21 fours and 5 sixes) against the USA in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Harare. After that, he scored 142 off 103 balls (14 fours, 3 sixes) against Oman in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023. Notably, both of his knocks came in a winning cause.
