West Indies cricket team were once considered the greatest Test team in the world. They made a telling impact by dominating the proceedings across all aspects of the game. As a result, they were able to churn out results when required. It is worth noting that they have clinched 8 consecutive Test series between 1984 and 1988.
For the record, they held the Wisden Trophy for 27 years from 1969 to 1995. Some of their greatest players include the likes of Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Garry Sobers, Malcolm Marshall and Curtly Ambrose. After they retired, the likes of Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Chris Gayle and others stepped up the ante.
However, as the years progressed, there has been a steady decline in terms of the overall performance of the West Indies cricket team. The team witnessed a downfall in Test cricket and they have not won a Test series since 2008, which goes to show that they still have plenty of things to fix.

1. Brian Lara
Brian Lara is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. The former West Indies captain has well and truly dictated the terms both in Tests and ODIs. Notably, he finished his career as the leading run-scorer for the West Indies in Tests with 11,953 runs and the second-leading run-scorer for the West Indies in ODIs with 11,405 runs. He is the only one from West Indies to go past the 10,000-run mark in both Tests and ODIs.
2. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Known for his quirky batting stance, Shivnarine Chanderpaul created an identity for himself as one of the best batters in the history of the sport. He is the second-leading run-scorer for the West Indies in international cricket. He scored 11,867 runs in Tests, 8778 runs in ODIs and 343 runs in T20Is. Notably, he is also the tenth-highest run scorer of all time in international cricket.
