Australia are widely acknowledged as the king of the ICC events and their trophy cabinet serves as a testament to this fact. They have won 5 ODI World Cups, 2 Champions Trophies and 1 T20 World Cup and 1 World Test Championship.
On the other hand, India have won five ICC titles (2 ODI World Cup, 2 Champions Trophies (once co-champions with Sri Lanka) and 1 T20 World Cup. Team India and Australia have been one of the top-performing teams when it comes to the ICC events.
However, Australia holds the upper hand over Team India in terms of the ICC Finals. India haven’t beaten Australia in the ICC finals. It is to be noted that both men’s and women’s teams lost two ICC finals each against Australia.
1. ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2003
Team India and Australia locked horns with each other in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2003 final. Batting first, Australia posted 359/2 with the help of Ricky Ponting’s 140. In response, India were folded to 234 and lost the game by 125 runs in Johannesburg.
2. ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2005
India Women crossed swords with Australia’s Women in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2005 final. Batting first, Australia Women posted 215/4 in their quota of 50 overs. In reply, India Women were bowled out for 117 and lost the game by 98 runs in Centurion.

3. ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020
India Women faced Australia Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 final. Australia Women posted 184/4 in their quota of 20 overs. In reply, India Women were skittled out for 99 and lost the game by 85 runs.
4. ICC Men’s World Test Championship 2023
Team India led by Rohit Sharma locked horns with Pat Cummins-led Australian cricket team in the ICC Men’s World Test Championship 2023 final at The Kennington Oval in London. Australia got the better of Team India by a humongous margin of 209 runs and won the maiden World Test Championship. With this win, Australia became the first team to clinch all the ICC titles.
