5 Players with the Most runs in World Test Championship without scoring Duck-compressed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced the World Test Championship in a bid to preserve Test cricket. It was indeed a good decision by the ICC to save the purest format of the game. The first two editions of the WTC have already been done and dusted.

The first cycle was played from 2019 to 2021 whereas the second cycle was held from 2021 to 2023. The New Zealand national cricket team defeated Team India by eight wickets in the first cycle and deservedly won the inaugural edition of the WTC.

Team India went on to reach the second consecutive WTC final. Unfortunately, they surrendered at the hands of Australia in the final showdown. Australia gave Indians a run for their money and went on to win the game by a mammoth margin of 209 runs.

So far in these two editions, we have seen batters and bowlers making a name for themselves. Case in point, let’s take a look at the five players who scored the most runs in World Test Championship without scoring a duck.

1. Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam comes first on the list as he scored the most runs in WTC without scoring a duck. Notably, he scored 2459 runs in the two editions of the World Test Championship.

2. Dimuth Karunaratne

Dimuth Karunaratne is considered one of the best Test openers in the current era. The left-handed batter scored the second-most runs (2053 runs) in World Test Championship without scoring a duck.

Litton Das has been the most successful opener for Bangladesh in international cricket. He scored 1441 runs in World Test Championship without scoring a duck.

5. Daryl Mitchell

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell comes next on the list he scored as many as 1113 runs in the World Test Championship without scoring a duck.
