7 Asian Bowlers with Most Wickets in Tests-compressed

Asian countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh have produced the finest bowlers in their history. They have performed considerably well in the sub-continent conditions, as well as, overseas. Taking wickets in Test cricket is quite a challenge.

However, the ones who perfect the art of taking wickets consistently on any surface are the “highly rated” bowlers. Case in point, let’s go through the seven Asian bowlers with the most Test wickets.

1. Muttiah Muralitharan

Sri Lanka’s bowling great Muttiah Muralitharan is widely acknowledged as the greatest bowler of all time. Notably, he is the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 800 wickets.

2. Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble has been the greatest-ever spinner in the history of Indian cricket. He has been one of the pillars of India’s bowling unit where he accounted for 619 dismissals, the most by an Indian in Test cricket.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin is currently the best off-spinner in the world. Apart from his bowling credentials, he has been productive with the bat as well. The veteran off-spinner comes third on the list as he has bagged as many as 479 wickets in the longest format of the game.

4. Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev’s contribution to Indian cricket shall never be forgotten. India’s legendary all-rounder comes fourth on the list as he has accounted for 434 wickets in Test cricket.

5. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh was one of the best spinners India has ever produced. The Turbanator comes fifth on the list as he has accounted for 417 wickets in Tests.

6. Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest pacers of all time and the greatest left-arm pacer in the history of the sport. He comes next on the list with 414 Test wickets.

7. Waqar Younis

Waqar Younis is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time. Pakistan largely benefitted from his services pretty well. He took 373 wickets in his magnificent Test career.
